Recipes, meal plans and the food log
Nutrition in Stem has four pieces. You write three of them: targets, recipes and meal plans. Your client writes the fourth, their food log, in their app. The main difference between the pieces you write is who can see them.

A meal plan is a guide to read: nothing is logged from it automatically. Clients log a meal or an option from the plan in one tap, a serve of a recipe, a food they search or scan, or one of their own saved meals.
Recipes are a library, meal plans are a prescription
Section titled “Recipes are a library, meal plans are a prescription”- A recipe is visible to all of your clients as soon as you create it. Use recipes for the meals you’d recommend to anyone.
- A meal plan is one example day, and it’s private until you assign it. Only the clients it’s assigned to see it. One plan can go to many clients, and one client can have several, such as a training-day plan and a rest-day plan.
The food log is the client’s own
Section titled “The food log is the client’s own”Your client logs what they actually eat, filed under Meal 1, Meal 2 and so on in the order they choose. These meal numbers are separate from the meal names in a plan, so clients without a plan log the same way as clients with one. A client with a plan can also log a meal straight from it: “Log this” on a meal, or on one of its options, adds all of it to the meal of the same number (Meal 2 of the plan goes into Meal 2), and they can pick another meal or day first. Each day is measured against the client’s targets, and changing a target keeps the old one in their history, so progress charts still line up.
